Quality and Production

Naturiga's spirulina is grown on an island in the Hainan island region of the South China Sea, surrounded by rich forests, protected from urban and agricultural pollution, with a clean tropical climate and air, and high mineral water, an area known as "local Hawaii."

Spirulina is cultivated in man-made pools using high-mineral drinking water quality groundwater, thus ensuring it is kept free from external toxins and heavy metals.

Long hours of sunlight, warm and alkaline conditions provide ideal growing conditions for spirulina.

It is meticulously controlled for mercury, lead, and all other harmful components.
Additionally, the pools where spirulina algae grow are regularly tested for pH value and bacteria.


The spirulina algae is harvested from the water with a fine mesh screen.
The screened spirulina is transferred to a washing pool and washed by hand.

The wet spirulina algae is placed in a drying room that rapidly evaporates all moisture while preserving its nutritional content. It is then ground into a fine green powder, packed into large airtight sacks, and shipped by sea to the UK for compliance testing for the European Union's Soil Association organic farming certification.

Once it obtains the organic farming certification in compliance with European Union standards, the Spirulina is imported from Europe by the Naturiga team and brought to our country.
During the import stage, tests approved by the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture are carried out by independent laboratories, and finally, it receives the Ecocert organic farming certificate in our country.

The most important point to consider when buying spirulina is to ensure that it is a clean product, certified, grown according to organic farming principles, and has passed all necessary tests.

Why Should I Use This Product?

Spirulina is a type of algae composed of blue-green algae, one of the most environmentally friendly protein sources in the world. It is known to have existed for 2.4 billion years.

Spirulina naturally contains a high percentage of protein (66%).
It is naturally a source of fiber.

NASA and the European Space Agency also prefer it for its high nutritional values to meet the nutritional needs of astronauts.

How Do I Use It?

Organic spirulina powder can be consumed by mixing 1-3 teaspoons with a glass of water, depending on need, or mixed into nutritious smoothies prepared with fresh fruits and vegetables. It can be added to oatmeal breakfast bowls, milk or plant-based milks, yogurt or plant-based yogurts, vegetable soups. It can be prepared as a lemon and olive oil dressing and added to salads.

It can be enjoyed in many recipes, including baked goods, pasta sauces, and ice creams.

You can drink it by adding 1/2 - 1 teaspoon to 1 glass of water. It might be better to prefer lemon water, as this will increase iron absorption.
If you find it difficult to drink due to its taste, you can also add it to fresh vegetable and fruit juices or smoothie recipes.
You can add it to lemon and olive oil salad dressings and then pour the dressing over your salad.
You can also consume it by adding it to recipes where you want to give a green color, such as puddings and pancakes.

QUESTION: CAN I USE SPIRULINA EVERY DAY?

Yes, spirulina is generally suitable for daily use; however, as Naturiga, we do not recommend using any nutrient “every day.” We believe in this approach to achieve diversity in our diet and to maintain a healthy gut flora by feeding our gut bacteria with a variety of foods.

Using it at reasonable intervals is always the most recommended method of use. The recommended daily dosage should generally not be exceeded, and if you have a special condition, you should consult your doctor before use.


Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, young children, and individuals with autoimmune diseases should not use spirulina directly or should use it under medical supervision. Individuals allergic to seaweed and seafood should absolutely not use it.

QUESTION: ARE HEAVY METAL TESTS PERFORMED ON YOUR SPIRULINA?

Yes, we place orders by obtaining analysis results from our suppliers from whom we source our product, and additionally, after certain products that may contain risks, such as Spirulina, enter our warehouse, we send them for re-analysis to accredited laboratories in our country (we work with SGS laboratory). We conduct both heavy metal and pesticide analyses.

QUESTION: WHY DON'T YOU SHARE YOUR HEAVY METAL ANALYSES?

In the relevant legislation of the Republic of Turkey, it is prohibited for brands to publicly share their own analysis results. This is because the analyses performed cannot be seen as a guarantee that food safety is 100% ensured, and if shared, this situation can be considered misleading information for the consumer.

The declaration of food safety inspections and their results by manufacturers is under the responsibility and authority of the T.C. Ministry of Agriculture.

QUESTION: WHAT DOES SPIRULINA TASTE LIKE?

Spirulina is a food that grows in water, and its taste and smell are naturally seaweed-like. Our product does not contain any sweeteners or flavorings.

Therefore, individuals who find it difficult to use prefer to add it to more aromatic fruit juices to make it easier to consume.

QUESTION: CAN PREGNANT AND BREASTFEEDING INDIVIDUALS USE SPIRULINA?

Spirulina can be used on an empty or full stomach, but in some cases, it is recommended to consume it at different times according to preference. Consuming it on an empty stomach can increase nutrient absorption and, with its protein content, can help manage appetite for those aiming for weight loss.

On a full stomach, it may be more suitable for those with stomach sensitivity. For best results, you should consult your doctor or nutritionist.

QUESTION: YOUR SPIRULINA IS PRODUCED IN CHINA, WHY DON'T YOU SOURCE IT FROM ANOTHER REGION?
